THINGS I'VE BEEN LOVING / NOV 15

Apologies for then super late monthly highlights! I semi-decided that I would do a Nov/Dec combined highlights because while lots happened in November, (1) not many were photograph-able things e.g. I finished uni, or (2) I just wanted to have a good ol time and not lug my camera around e.g my 23rd birthday. But while I was doing a bit of a clean up of my room and work area, I was hit with ideas and inspiration. So here we go!

1. THIS NECKLACE. I was given this as a thank you by the designer herself after I helped out with a photoshoot. I spotted this at the start of the photoshoot and I immediately fell in love! Needless to say, when I found out at the end of the day that I could pick out something I liked, I went for this without hesitation. I don't usually wear big chunky necklaces but when it is something THIS gorgeous, I just can't help myself. I wore this to my graduation exhibition a few days ago with a plain black playsuit and it was completely changed up my look. I love it!

2. I turned 23! I decided that I was going to just enjoy myself on my birthday and not lug a camera around trying to capture my day. I had a good ol time and a surprise night out. Can't believe I was being played all day and had no clue! I spent the next 2 weeks having meals and little catch ups with different people to celebrate my birthday. Most presents were time, food & super thoughtful messages - ALL of which are things I love the most! I also received a few (unexpected) presents in the form of a beautiful bouquet of flowers + a LUSH shower jelly (ITS SO MUCH FUN IN THE SHOWER) and candles. The Paddywax candle smells amazing and the whole room smells of it even without the candle burning. Love, love, love!

3. I finished up 2 fragrances! YAY. It is very unlike me to finish up a product. But I've had to learn to stick with stuff as I've grown older because things cost money, and money doesn't just magically appear in my bank account. I've had Marc Jacobs Daisy for about 2 years and the CK One for her for about a year. Both I love using and will happily repurchase in the future.

4. In case you don't know, I design wedding invites! I received one of my designs in the post a few days ago and I was squealing as I opened the envelope! I am so happy with how they turned out (granted the text on the RSVP cards could've been bigger) and most importantly, the nearly-weds are happy. We decided to change the design two days before they had to go to print and I'm so glad we did!

And there we go, another month done and dusted! I have a style/fashion post that I really want to get done in December, more photos of the beautiful town of York and possibly a Christmas related DIY post I am hoping to put up as well. Stay tuned!! x

THINGS I'VE BEEN LOVING / SEPT 2015

September has been a hectic month. It is now week 8 of the semester and I'm getting slightly nervous. That can only mean many hours spent in the photography studio at university working on assignments. I threw up at an engagement party I attended and was out of action for an entire week sick following that. Thank goodness I made it to the bathroom in time! On that note, here's some of my favourite moments this month amidst the craziness.

1. BIRKENSTOCKS! I don't even know if they're cool anymore, or if they've ever been cool, but I have a new found love for Birkenstocks. They look a bit more presentable than thongs (or flip-flops) and make the perfect footwear to dress down an outfit. I have the plain black pair with a single strap across and I've been pairing them with both skinny jeans rolled up and with dresses. ASOS carries a small selection of designs, but I think you're better off going into your local store or go onto the official website. Also, Bruce the bruise happened just two days ago. I tripped over my own feet while jogging. End of story.

2. I have been browsing and contemplating a pair of Shevoke sunnies for a good couple months, and this month I finally caved and purchased a pair. I opted for this rose gold pair and I am absolutely in love! Everything about this pair of sunnies is just perfect, from the color, to the fit and the shape. I have a pretty average-slightly larger than average sized head so I generally do not have too much trouble with the size of sunglasses. Before taking the plunge and purchasing a pair, I suggest having a look on their Instagram page for photos of real people wearing the product to get an idea of how it will look like on yourself.

3. Speaking of rose, I have a new rose scented skincare discovery. It is a facial spray with aloe, herbs and rosewater. It is great for a boost of hydration throughout the day, or for use before/after make up. I have been using this as a makeup setting spray and I find that it really helps keep everything in place much longer. If I have an extra long day, I'll pop this in my bag/car and use it throughout the day when I get a bit tired. I've seen many other facial sprays but they cost so much money! This is by far the most affordable one I've come across - and it works wonders!

4. I saved the best for last: This is potentially the BIGGEST highlight of this year so far. I am officially an Australian permanent resident!!!! Only took SIX YEARS from the day the visa application was first lodged and the day it was approved. I AM STOKED BEYOND WORDS. Australia, You're stuck with me forever. I am here to stay!

Apologies for the lack of updates on here recently, I'll be back here on a regular basis once things at uni settles down a little bit. Follow me on Instagram @zooetan to see what I'm up to while I'm not blogging. HELLO OCTOBER. x

ADDICTED TO SUNGLASSES

I love buying sunglasses, I love wearing them, I love collecting them. Because I don't wear a lot of jewellery, sunglasses are the easiest way for me to change up the look of an outfit. Plus, it's always sunny in Perth so we're hardly ever without a pair! My favourites are definitely my Quay Australia ones. I hunted down the clear pair on the Internet for weeks while it was out of stock on their website.

The Princess Polly pair (p/s: dupe for the Karen Walker Harvest) and/or my Ray Bans live in my car (yes, as a back up) since they go with pretty much any outfit. A free tip: Ray Bans are so much cheaper on Amazon! The ASOS pair is my most recent purchase. I really like the design but it's just not sitting quite right. This is my second ASOS (sunglasses) purchase and I have come to the conclusion that they suit people with smaller heads/faces much better.

And there we go, my sunglasses collection. Now get shopping!! ;)

THINGS I'VE BEEN LOVING / JULY 2015

July - what a month it has been! Winter finally decided to kick in, I've started a website, I had bright pink hair (chalk) for a night, I have a new house mate coming in a an hour or so... Anyway, a few highlights below.

1. My new bed was a very lucky find on gumtree - $330 for the frame and mattress. It was three months old but in great condition. I had the mattress steam cleaned before I slept in it just for hygiene reasons. My bedside table is a kitchen trolley from IKEA. It was my beauty trolley before but after some rearranging, it now holds all my bedside essentials and make up. Cushions are from IKEA too but are from the recent limited edition collection.

2. This months beauty bits I've been loving are now my winter essentials. My face has been exceptionally dry and quite spotty this winter so my skincare/makeup needed an update. I've been using the Aesop cleansing masque once a week for a deep cleanse and oomph of hydration. On a daily basis, I use The Body Shop's sorbet in the mornings under makeup and (if I'm heading out) the Mecca tinted moisturiser over the top. Hydration, SPF and a decent coverage - can't go wrong!

3. I'm not a huge wearer of jewellery unless they are dainty pieces or have some sort of cool geometric shape. I bought this on ASOS as a 'filler item' so I could qualify for free shipping. Contrary to the image, I actually have quite skinny fingers so I wasn't sure if these ring would fit. One of them fits better than the other, but I love them just the same.

4. I have to admit that this was not an original idea, but rather was inspired by an image I saw on Instagram awhile ago. This is the perfect necklace/headband storage and display. I bought Cookie Monster as a souvenir when I visited Universal Studios Singapore in Jan 2014. The other bits are gifts, DIY from friends or purchased from the shops.

5. I have an obsession with glass jars!!! Admittedly, I am a bit of a hoarder when it comes to glass jars. I threw out so many of them when I moved about a year ago and now I have a new collection. Oops. The deer jar filled with potpourri was a leftover decoration from Naomi + Alan's wedding. I also spray painted (metallic gold) some leftover baby's breath from the wedding and they are one of my favourite things in the house.

Yes, I love IKEA and glass jars. I just can't help myself. Bring on August! x
